ayi ayi!

I miss the California sun; I really miss the deathly hot temperatures that the Cali sun produced. When will the temperatures be in the 80/90s in the middle of the USA? Dear God bring me heat now [preferably via the sun not a fire]

I also miss being close to all the fishy in the deep blue Pacific sea. In attempts to reconnect myself with the fish I created this masterpiece this morning.

Crab & American Cheese stuffed Egg White Omelet

Snapshot_20110427

All you do is crack those eggs open and separate the yolk from the whites. Fry the whites on both sides and place the imitation crab meat (diced) and a slice of American cheese in the middle. Wait until the cheese is melted, flip one side to the other, plate, and douse with hot sauce. Enjoy!

Manicure & Pedicure – the gentleman doing my nails told me I was so tense I should have a large drink or even better a tranquilizer. Thanks. Check dem sparkles out.

2011 005

A 90 minute massage that turned into a 1 hour 45 minute massage. It was more than perfect. It was amazing [now I smell of 6 different essential oils…yummy for the next 24 hours yahoo]2011 003

The man @ the Dollar Tree greeted me with “Hello Party Girl” when I bought the glow sticks above. Yes! Just getting prepared for Coachella. Hell yes! This diva will sparkle (nails) and glow (glow sticks).

Pretty sure this bowl of chicken broth [mind you low sodium] and no egg yolk noodles was super great to have after the masseuse told me to drink plenty of liquids. So does that mean wine is hydrating as well.

Off to finish the last of my homework efforts [slim to none] and packing for Cali :o)

summer body…. annoying!

Lately I have been starting my day with the following:

2011 006Coffee

Plain Oatmeal -cooked with a sprinkle of vanilla extract & topped with cinnamon & a dab of butter (shh!)

Side of 3 egg whites covered in hot sauce

Makes for a great filling breakfast and provides around 20g of natural protein! You know for all the muscle I gain while exercising working, partying, and doing school work.

Yes, I just admitted I do not work out. I was proud of myself in 2010 I did work out for about 3-4 months in the spring. Go me but I got a little to into it. In 2011…I think I have been on 1 or 2 walks, stretched, and occasionally you could find me lifting those 10lb dumbbells in my bedroom. I have replaced it with all my dancing when I go out on the weekends ;-)

So how do I keep normal sized? A diet made up of healthy choices mixed with daily treats. [Treats include a daily dessert, diet soda, chips, beer, and the out to eat meals] It is all about balance. If I am going to drink beer at night I am not going to have candy or chips.  Makes sense.

I think people, particularly around this time of the year, get the notion that they have to “diet” to obtain their “summer body.” What does that even mean? Shouldn’t you want to maintain the same body all year long? Yes! Then these people restrict themselves from indulging in treats which they will later binge on. I just get so annoyed when people announce to everyone around them ‘Oh no I can’t have that I am trying to get my summer body.’

Portion control! Indulge once in awhile :o) You will be happier that you did.

Portion control tip:

2011 0032011 001

Separate the pasta package into individual servings. This will not only save you time when preparing your meal, but you will also have one serving instead of multiple. If you are still hungry, make more! Simple!

Exciting weekend:

Ps & Qs

filters, flirting, freaks.

While standing in the liquor section of the grocery store, after a 12 hour work shift mind you, a guy was apparently lurking behind me for a hot minute watching my moves….

him: did you really just pick that (Mickey’s) up out of all the  actual good beer selection here

me: yes, I just worked a long shift and want a beer

him: well, someone had to have told you to pick that up then.

me: no, I just want something cheap and I think it is good.

Why can’t people mind their own P’s & Q’s? Did their mothers and fathers fail to teach them that every thought that passes through their mind may not be socially acceptable or necessary. I mean, I have a problem forgetting to put my filter on. For instance last Sunday the check out man at CVS made a joke about being on Meth and I stated “Oh, I see that you are balding quite nicely.” Which was a rude statement since he was in fact balding.

This brings me back to about three weeks ago when a ‘gentleman’  told me I was recovering nicely after my pregnancy. I diagnose him with lack of a filter and he receives slim to no customer friendliness every time he comes to ‘pickle his brain’ after working. [pickle his brain – drink]

bottom line: get a filter, use it, learn how to compliment someone without bringing them down, and try using new flirting techniques.

WEEKEND RECAP

Friday: I was slated to see Toro y Moi.  2011 005This show had been on my calendar for at least the last month and half but the tickets were not purchased in advanced. Why? Well, honestly we didn’t think that it would really be sold out by the time we rolled up because time moves s.l.o.w. at this venue. It was sold out. We were bummed. Things looked glum and dancing the night away at the Union bar, a new love obsession, almost didn’t even seem as if it would fix the downer situation. By some miracle the bouncer imagedecided that 20 additional people would get the pleasurable live experience.  Yes! The night was saved. The show was AMAZING. No complaints were had. In talking with the bassist after the show I found out that they would next be going to my hometown. He didn’t seem as excited about it as I did, until I told him it was only a three hour drive. Dancing continued and that was that. Success.

Saturday: My morning was spent eating breakfast at First Watch,  buying Dollar Tree toilet paper(which is better than 99 cent grocery store brand toilet paper), and laying low until work at 5.

2011 0072011 008

Sam picked me up after work and surprised me with a 90 MINUTE MASSAGE/ MANICURE/ PEDICURE Gift Card.  LOVE. (scheduled them for next Monday!!!) I scheduled myself for this massage:

Sunday:  The wind advisory 80 degrees Sunday, was spent inside at work until 5 when I hightailed it to the boyfriend’s parents house for dinner. Snippety comments from his sister later and my killing the stick shift 4 times later = tears. Ugh, why would anyone want to drive a manual car? Sam said I did fine. I say attempt two at learning was a failure.

UPCOMING WEEK

Today:  I was woken up by the sound 2011 009of Spanish singing coming from the kitchen, I guess it could be worse.   The was followed by a breakfast of Panera hazelnut coffee and the frosting off a giant piece of bakery cake for breakfast. Yeah, healthy, I know! After a sugar coma, long day of class, and trip by the grocery store I came home to make this delicious creation before beginning loads of homework.

Tuesday:

Parkinson group from 11:45-1

Work 3-9

Wednesday:

Work 10:45-9 (ouch, but it is $$)

Thursday:

Work 5-9

Friday and Saturday

***MUCHO homework to complete during all free time. Like tons. I get my masters degree in 40ish days. Hell yes. Now, about that job hunt. Failing.

yes. my life began to get exciting last Friday.

stunning

If you have wondered where I get my stunningly good looks –haha- it is because I have beautiful parents. Not only are they beautiful, they are absolutely amazing for so many, so many reasons. Anyone who raises six children successfully, anyone who sends them through great Catholic schools, who pays to send them to good colleges/universities, who calls you on the regular… it goes on and on.  I love my parents.

I try not to dwell on how much I miss my family being all together. I try not to tear up when I think of them and how I miss being with them. Thank God for holidays when I can go home & reunite with my lovely family. Easter?! Are you here yet!

clothing choice:

As I mentioned here I went to Das Racist on Wednesday wearing:2011 0022011 003

Yes your eyes are not deceiving you. That is a purse within a purse (or in this case a clutch inside a purse). I don’t know why but I can’t break myself from the routine of just throwing a purse within a purse instead of emptying it out and switching it up as I feel.

- So for this look I combined dark washed jeans with a front button down tank top with a flowy ruffle bottom and threw a cropped leather jacket on top. I completed the look with some black pumps. Success.

music:

Tonight I am going to get my dance party on.  Not only is an amazing band playing, but my new found DJ love is spinning at the same venue. Hell yeah!

Does this not scream dance party:

Have a fabulous Friday night!
