imageLady Gaga was in Omaha for Christmas! She has some boyfriend who grew up in a small Nebraska town, hence the reason for her coming to the Midwest.  Crazy for Omaha… well I guess Warren Buffet has a house like 3 houses away from my grandparents… but he is no Lady Gaga and doesn’t have a million “little monsters” old and young following his every move.

my life is over.

As I munch on my second peanut butter blossom cookie I am really wondering how and why Pics! 007 Hugh Hefner is engaged. My life is over. I wanted to be the next blonde bombshell on his arm.  Which would be hard to do since I am not blonde, go for that horn ball, and/or a bombshell. The real question is… why would a 24 year old hottie want him as their hubbie?! I know that love has no age stamp but what the hell!!! I just don’t get it.

Today’s events included a whole lot of this Pics! 011Praxis book reading to prepare me for that exam I have to take in the middle of January. Really I am so distracted by Twitter, Facebook, and other house-ly doings that I did not actually accomplish all that much. I try. That is what tonight is for anyway, right?!

I love home creations:

and apparently breakfast too.

Well, now that I don’t have a 1 in a zillion chance of being Hugh’s next lady and I am sugared up, I may as well crack open my Praxis book and get some reading accomplished.

Song:

I hear that song about 20 times a day while home.  My sisters are mildly (extremely) obsessed.  I strangely love it, I can’t lie.

Oh and did I mention what famous celebrity is in Omaha, my hometown, currently (and has been all Christmas)….  wait till tomorrow!

Christmas Eve.

I love Christmas Eve!

The hectic house leading up to the amazing dinner is a M-U-S-T.

Getting to church at 4 for a 5 o’clock mass to only see the church completely full and snagging the last possible pew is absolutely crazy.

Grandparents coming over to enjoy our Southern tradition of Crawfish Etouffee over rice with a side fillet for my grandpa with a seafood allergy is standard.

Creme de menthe doused over vanilla ice cream is our traditional dessert.

imageMy sister, Julie, took this picture after informing me it would be great for my blog.

Secret Santa gifts to follow with the occasional fashion show and/or live performance from the littlest sister must happen.

Well, I just love Christmas.

My sisters think this is very Myspacesque… I agree but it shows off my adorable Christmas Eve dress. Festive, no?

image

On an ending note, I know you are all wondering about my first non-vegetarian meal… it was fabulous!  I think an occasional encounter with meats/fish during holidays and/or special evenings out will be a new acceptable part of my lifestyle.

Can’t wait to see what Santa brings me tomorrow. Can’t wait to hear my dad tell us Santa did not come and we must have all been terrible this year. Cannot wait to dig into the traditional egg casserole with a side of fresh fruit salad. Cannot wait for fam to come over to enjoy Christmas dinner with us!

I have a lot to be thankful for clearly!

break veg.

It is Christmas Eve… and this is is a BIG day!
I am going to reintroduce meat & fish back into my life. It has been about 2 to 3 years since I have had any form of meat and/or fish purposefully. I really only want to indulge in meats/fish on a very occasional basis. I really do not crave meat and can live without it, but depriving myself of an occasional steak, chicken breast, or seafood entree cannot happen anymore. I want to be able to indulge in meat when I am out on the town or attending a fancy dinner or family holiday meal. I plan on being vegetarian about 95% of the year, because I know I can live without meat, I enjoy vegetarian options, and it is a healthier (some may disagree) lifestyle.

There is my big decision. I have been resting on it for a couple months now. Over Thanksgiving break I was not able to cave into my former fish/meat self when I was in Louisiana. To think I could have indulged in mucho Cajun loving. Bah!

I equate my feeling of vegetarianism much like a smoker who is trying to stop. It is a lifestyle, after all. So, here is to being 90-95% vegetarian during the year instead of 99.9% (occasional oops! or what have you…chicken broth as bases, etc…).

Tonight, during our Christmas Eve dinner, we will be having crawfish etouffee and I am excited!  New chapter… unless the etouffee really ruins it for me.

home!

i just love being home for numerous reasons…

    1. family, obviously
    2. old friends
    3. the Old Market (downtown area)
    4. all the familiar faces when I leave the house
    5. relaxing at home
    6. snow, more than likely, always on the ground

I forgot how much I loved cream cheese, rye bread, and cottage cheese… hence breakfast was created! Love being home!

home sweet home

It has been decided that gifts are awesome, snow spices up the season, BUT family, friends, and Jesus make the season what it is.

presents:

I exchanged presents with the boyfriend & his parents last night! They seemed to love the measuring cups that I chose for them. Sam was surprised with my i Pod clock/speaker system I gave him and maybe liked my attempt to be a creative photographer. Sam got me a gorgeous tharp: throw/wrap combo. It is beautiful on my bed and I cannot wait to try it on as a garment. He also got me an oil mister.. basically a kitchen garget to create your own infused olive oil creations or salad dressings. Ah, look at him thinking of healthy options for me and my favorite room! No pictures yet, maybe when I return back after being home.

photos from home:

hot hot heat

and no I am not talking about the weather. I wish!

Last night I really needed one of these:

imageno not a hot, hunky male- I have a cute man named Sam.. but a cute male mechanic (which is rare I think…because usually they are like my dad’s age with dirty hands)

image

BECAUSE I neglected my MOM van and basically had zero radiator fluid. Thanks to my hot roomies I obtained some 50/50 coolant/antifreeze (yeah I sound like I know what I am talking about) and now have a happy, non-overheating soccer mom car. Well, for now anyway… test drive to follow. Oil change to follow as well…. smell you later babysitting money I am earning this morning. Lame.

P.S. Thanks Google Images for supplying me with all my car related photos.  Seriously, what would I ever do without Google. It is my lifeline.. I even text it to obtain phone numbers and addresses.

P.P.S. Happy Hour with some of my undergrad college besties.. needed I guess.  Thank God my stomach loves me again.

music:

what I love to listen to anytime of the day, but really when I am going to sleep at night. Thanks Sam for introducing me to this band and also for the awesome experience of seeing them live in Chicago this past summer! (I really am trying to get you to read my blog, aren’t I?! Or maybe just trying to get an extra good Christmas present?)

some gifts!

Yesterday at the World Market I picked up gifts for a few family members, as well as, my boyfriends parents. Just look how cute these are:

image vegetable measuring cups + matching set of tbsp/teaspoon

I just wanted to get something little and I think these sure are cute and heck I would want them to be apart of my kitchen supplies.

I got my parents a pancake griddle (because I have always wanted one)…

imagewith some delicious (hopefully) Louisiana praline pancake mix!

If you still need gifts, I highly recommend stopping by at the nearest World Market or shopping online!

-------

Now off to pick up some more goodies for the rest of the gang: boyfriend, brothers, and finish the sisters gifts.

Unfortunately, this day will be full of work post quick shopping spree and I have a very upset stomach that has been lingering on since yesterday. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

My Starbucks wrap…

What does a  normal person do after waking up at 11:30 after a night of 2 margaritas, Mexican fiesta (chili relleno and about 3 servings or more of chips, salsa, and queso), and maybe parts of a beer?

Well the answer is: Put on the same clothes from last night night, fix their hair, and put on the coat to head to the grocery store…

Come home, clean up the disgusting mess in the kitchen only explainable by maybe a tornado hit (?) and then create this masterpiece….image

a flat wrap, collard greens, egg whites, and Louisiana hot sauce

coffee + vanilla unsweetened Almond Breeze

Yesterday, I went to Starbucks and ordered a spinach feta egg white wrap… it was so good that I had to try to mimic its basic concept this morning with some twists.
